Cannabis på Cypern!

Otto fick möjligheten att väldigt kort intervjua en cannabisförsäljare på Cypern. Det skiljer sig ändå en hel del från svenska förhållanden.

Sedan jag flyttade till Cypern så har jag såklart varit nyfiken på cannabisscenen här på ön och den är faktiskt större än vad man förväntat sig! Trots att lagstiftningen är rätt lik Sverige så upplever jag att bruket är betydligt mer utspritt.

Om vi börjar med lagstiftningen kring plantan så är den illegal och förbjuden för såväl odling, konsumering och försäljning. Undantaget det som kallas för ”CBD weed” och liknande produkter gjorda från Hampa med THC nivåer som är inom ramen för EUs lagstiftning. Det finns ett antal butiker lite var-stans som säljer dessa light produkter men inte mer än så.

Medicinsk cannabis är officiellt tillåten, men såvitt jag kan hitta så är det 0 läkare, 0 kliniker och 0 patienter här på ön. Har inte lyckats få någon riktig klarhet i hur det ligger till med importerad medicinsk cannabis annat än att ”det behandlas som all annan medicin när det kommer med recept”. Men utan några inhemska patienter eller föreskrivare så ser jag det nog lite som illegalt det också.

Men lokalbefolkningens syn på cannabis är ändå väldigt liberal. När jag besökte en restaurang under en festkväll så började jag snacka med en krögare som sa att nästan varje kväll får han säga till både turister och lokalbor att inte ställa sig utanför uteserveringen och tända en gås. Hur kommer det sig?

Jag kom efter några veckor i kontakt med en försäljare som lät sig intervjuas sålänge jag höll hen anonym och jag tog tillfället i akt såklart.

What got you in to the cannabusiness?

Well, i am a user so it started as a way to help me friends, then i started selling so i could smoke for free myself and then i started making money from it, so it was very natural and organic for me.

Are you ever worried about the police?

Not really, you ofcourse shouldnt show the police what you are doing or smoke in the streets, but if u keep it down low and be carefull the police wont bother you. If you sell to kids or people who have drugproblems, its more of a risk.

So you dont sell to kids then?

I dont sell to anyone who cant handle it, even if my regular customers come to me to often or start to have problems to pay, I will not sell to them.

Why is this?

Well, I don’t like to have things on my consciousness, if people want to screw up their life I wont stop them, but I wont help them either. And kids is just a big NONO for me. If i could go back to the idiots who sold to me when I was a kid, I would beat them up.

Is the cannabis beeing imported or is it grown localy?

Most of what I see is grown locally, of course there is some being smuggled in but not much. Hasch for example or harder drugs are a lot more uncommon than weed. At least in my part of the island. Around the nightclubs cocain and ketamine are a bit more common but I don’t really go there much.

Is it hard to smuggle thing here or why do you think it is like this?

Well, not really. But i don’t really know much about that world. But the climate here is so perfect for cannabis so I think it’s just easier to grow it than to smuggle it. And the punishments are a lot lighter for growing than smuggling, so thats a factor as well i believe.

Is there alot of gangs to hold control of different areas and drugs here on the island?

Not that i know of, I am sure there is certain side streets where you will find people who try to organize themself to lookout and such, but it’s nothing like America or Germany where you would be shot if u sold the wrong drug on the wrong corner.

Do you think Cyprus will ever legalise?

I dont know about that, noone is really bothered by the laws here so there is no movement for it. People have bigger issues to worry about than cannabis, and the police have other crimes to focus on. So like I said before, if you remain invisible the police wont bother you. So if Cyprus will legalise cannabis, it will not be because Cyprus demands it.

Bara för några dagar sedan så blev en man stoppad i Limassol med 5kg cannabis, så helt ute och cycklar är poliserna inte. Men som mina nyfunne vän nämnde så är polisen inte direkt super engagerad i att leta efter ”småbus” utan man verkar rikta in sig på de större fiskarna, något som våra svenska kling och klang kanske kan lära sig lite av?
